Kabul, July 6 : Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Thursday arrived in Tajikistan capital Dushanbe for the CASA-1000 power project summit and a trilateral meeting with the Tajik and Pakistani leadership.

The President, who is leading a delegation of high-level government officials, will deliver a speech during the summit, Khaama Press cited an ARG Palace statement as saying.

Ghani during his meeting with Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon will discuss ways to further boost bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Afghanistan.

He will also attend a trilateral summit to be held between Afghanistan, Pakistan and Tajikistan, the statement said.

Under CASA-1000 project, which was launched in May last year, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan will supply 1,300 MW of electricity to Pakistan (1,000 MW) and Afghanistan (300 MW) during the summer season.

The $1.2 billion scheme is the first power project linking Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan and is expected to be completed by 2018.
