Ghaziabad, July 4 : The bail of a Jet Airways official who was arrested on Sunday on charges of grabbing municipal land in Ghaziabad was rejected by the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court here on Tuesday.

The defence lawyer argued that since the accused possesses the legal sale deed papers and the nature of crime is civil, so he must be granted bail.

But the prosecution opposed and demanded the rejection of the bail since the applicant was found guilty of building and subletting the premises on the land whose ownership lies with the municipal corporation. And since the applicant had forged the government papers, the crime is covered under heinous nature. Therefore the police have added four more sections 467, 468, 471 and 420 of IPC in addition to the already applied sections of 447 448 of IPC, the prosecution said.

Earlier, the retired colonel and presently Vice President security Jet Airways Avneet Singh Bedi was arrested from his Panchsheel Park residence on charges of illegally grabbling municipal land in Ghaziabad.
