New Delhi, April 26 : It was a soulful evening at "Jash-e-dosti" where the audience was enthralled with ghazals and discourses spreading a strong message on issues like female foeticide, rape, dowry, domestic violence, stalking and eve-teasing.

Organised by the SIET foundation, the event at the India International Centre on Tuesday was graced by poet Zeeshan Niazi and eminent litterateur Laxmi Shankar Bajpai, among others Girls from the the Sakshi NGO put forth a heart-wrenching performance which depicted the evils against women prevalent in the society.

However, it was the performance by Shakeel Ahmed that brought the house down as his ghazals enthralled the audience with original compositions of lyricists like Nida Fazli, Nazim, Aleena Itrat and Zeeshan, among others.

Noted social worker and cultural activist Mridula Tandon was also felicitated at the event.

"SIET aims to bring Urdu and Hindi poetry and literature back into mainstream awareness by showcasing the awesome talent that exists in this sphere," Tandon said at the event.
