Bengaluru, April 22 : Defending champions Bengaluru FC (BFC) produced a dominant performance to humiliate DSK Shivajians 7-0 in their football I-League encounter at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium here on Saturday.

BFC blew away the opposition in the first half. Sunil Chhetri opened the floodgates in the 20th minute before Alwyn George (22nd), Eugeneson Lyngdoh (25th) and Seminlen Doungel (31st) bulged the net within the next 11 minutes as the hosts virtually killed off the game before half-time.

The hosts piled on the humiliation in the second half with Chhetri scoring his second goal in the 66th minute. The BFC skipper picked up a cross from Alwyn George with a deft touch and beat DSK goalkeeper Soram Poirei with a superb placement to the far post.

C.K. Vineeth scored BFC's sixth goal in the 78th minute before Sandesh Jhingan (90th) headed in off a corner in the final minute of regulation time to round off the tally.

Saturday's win is one of the highlights of a poor season for the defending champions who are at the fourth place with 27 points from 17 matches.

They have the same number of points as third placed East Bengal but trail the Kolkata giants on goal difference.

DSK continued to languish at the seventh spot in the 10-team table with 17 points from as many matches.
