New Delhi, April 12 : The Congress on Wednesday termed senior party leader Veerappa Moily's stand on backing EVMs his personal views, noting he had signed the memorandum and was part of the delegation that met President Pranab Mukherjee to complain about them.

"If he has said something it is in his personal capacity. It is his personal view. That is not the opinion of the party," senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad told reporters.

"The entire opposition including Congress party leaders are united on this issue that something is wrong with the EVMs, and the malfunctioning, the errors have to be satisfactorily addressed.

"So, we went to the Commission and in today's (Wednesday) memorandum to the President (Pranab Mukherjee), there is also a mention of this. Mr. Moily himself has signed this memorandum and was a part of the delegation. He also read the draft twice," he added.

Moily had earlier backed EVMS and said that there was no question of going back to old method of ballot papers.
