Aa Gaya Hero Review

From the bad, insensible jokes to the shallow dialogues and the writing (or the lack of it) that packs a punch to logic and good humor, this Govinda movie has all the elements of an unwelcome disaster.

Roundup review: Govinda plays a cop (yet again), Ravindra Verma (the quintessential cop name), in this movie that is too bad that it turned out to be funny. And the determined cop is on a mission to bring in a terrorist whose only known identity is his terrible laugh. An overused story that it actually belongs in a museum with the T-rex’s fossil, cliched stunt choreography, villains badly in need of some attitude, and dialogues that hurt your logic, this movie has it all. There are also dance sequences in the movie and one of them has Govinda, struggling to groove with fatigue written all over his face. It’s ironic how the movie starring Govinda, undeniably one of the erstwhile iconic stars of Bollywood, fails while trying to fit into the Bollywood genre. The movie’s attempt at a light-hearted comedy is without a doubt, disastrous.

Hindustan Times called the movie a ‘snoozefest’ and had to say this much: It’s not just Govinda, but also Ashutosh Rana, Surendra Pal and Makarand Deshpande who are all on different tangents here. Tawdry visual effects are reminiscent of the ‘90s show Shaktimaan. Govinda’s age old pals, Harish and Chandrachur Singh are also back in the movie and has their own share of weirdness to contribute. It’s difficult to comprehend why Govinda why do such a thing called Aa Gaya Hero. 0/5.

Bollywood Life writes: Aa Gaya Hero is not funny even when compared to the MSG series. Despite Govinda, the ‘90s actors, Harish and Chandrachur Singh are also in the movie to make it more miserable. The rhetoric of the characters and the dialogues referring to rape and molestation are also in poor taste. The movie looks like a collage of poorly written, directed and edited scenes that best belongs to the Recycle Bin.

Times of India writes: Like any other Govinda movie, this one too has got dance sequences, tacky dialogues and such. However, in Aa Gaya Hero, Govinda attempts to work a serious role around all the blatant humor. The actors are completely unutilized and after surviving two hours of this torture, we deserve at least a ‘Finisher’ trophy. 1.5/5

Koimoi writes: The two-hour watch seemed more like a punishment and is a classic case of professional hazard for movie critics. The title of the movie should be ‘Paka Gaya Hero’. Boring and an utter waste of time. 1/5.

Zeenews says: The movie is unwittingly made and lacks subtlety right from writing to direction. The script is messy, ancient and insensitive. It’s almost like a Z-grade movie straight out of the ‘80s.
