New Delhi, Jan 25 : Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday distanced the BJP from party MP Vinay Katiyar's "sexist" comments against Priyanka Gandhi, saying the party did not subscribe to his views.

Asked about the comments made by Katiyar, Naidu said: "Nobody has the right to make personal remarks against anyone, specially against women."
"The party (Bharatiya Janata Party) does not subscribe to it," he said during an interaction with journalists at Indian Women's Press Corps.

Katiyar, speaking a day after Priyanka was named among the Congress' star campaigners for poll-bound Uttar Pradesh, said BJP had "prettier star campaigners".

On Tuesday, Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader Sharad Yadav had said "honour of being able to cast a vote is much bigger than your daughter's honour".

Commenting on both, Naidu said: "I regret they made such comments. Hope they will understand the effect of their comments. I hope they will be extra careful in future."
