Thiruvananthapuram, January 18 : Noted writer Paul Zacharia has taken potshots at the union government’s decision to grant Y category security cover to four BJP leaders in Kerala.

The writer noted in a facebook post on Wednesday that he came to know from a newspaper report that the centre granted VIP security cover to four BJP leaders in Kerala.

I found a nugget of information in the news report heart-warming, which is that the security cover was given in the light of information that extremists had hatched plans to trigger communal riots in Kerala by eliminating the four BJP leaders, Zacharia wrote sarcastically.

Striking a caustic note, he asked how the people of Kerala should thank Narendra Modi and the BJP leadership in Kerala for having the foresight to know that assassinating BJP leaders in the state would trigger communal riots.

He also poked fun at the fact that O Rajagopal, who is unambiguously BJP’s most popular face in Kerala and the only BJP member in the state assembly, was not given the security cover.

“Fortunately, only these four BJP leaders. We are to believe that the other BJP leaders are not qualified enough to die communal riots-instigating deaths,” the writer quipped.

He also sought to clarify a few doubts regarding centre’s assumption that the deaths of BJP leaders would cause riots.

“Like Gandhiji was assassinated by Godse, a Brahmin, would riots ensue if a BJP leader is dispatched by a Hindu,” he quipped, pointing out sardonically that “Hindus could also make mistakes.”

He concluded the post by sarcastically thanking Modi and BJP leadership for the having the ‘care and patriotism’ to save Kerala from the prospects of communal riots.

The centre had the other day granted Y category security cover to four BJP leaders – BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan, former state president P K Krishnadas, and general secretaries M T Ramesh and K Surendran.
