Paris, Jan 11 : French football club Lille OSC announced on Wednesday that its president Michel Seydoux will hand over power to successor Gerard Lopez on Friday.

Spanish-Luxembourg businessman Lopez will officially take the helm during a press conference to be held on Friday. Lopez signed the purchase agreement of the French club last December 22, reports Efe.

Meanwhile, French daily L'Equipe reported that Lille were in advanced negotiations to hire Argentine coach Marcelo Bielsa to be in charge of the club, which holds 12th position in Ligue 1.

L'Equipe added that the deal would only be closed after the official purchase of the French club.

Bielsa, 61, will return to the French league after he previously led Olympique de Marseille in the 2014-2015 season.

The Argentine coach signed a contract with Lazio in July 2016, but he did not lead the Italian team as he resigned days after a disagreement with Lazio management regarding signings.

Bielsa trained Chile and Argentina and both Spanish clubs Athletic Bilbao and Espanyol, among others.
