Berlin, Jan 10 : VFL Wolfsburg have reinforced their forward thrust with the signing of midfielder Paul Geroges Ntep, the German top division football club have confirmed.

The French international joined Wolfsburg from Stade Rennais F.C. after putting pen to paper on a deal until June 2021. Ntep received jersey number 9 at his new club, reports Xinhua news agency.

"We have observed Paul-Georges Ntep intensively in recent years and are glad that he opted to join Wolfsburg. He is fast, strong in one-on-one situations and a threat for every defence," Wolfsburg's sporting director Olaf Rebbe said on Monday.

The 24-year-old winger has played since 2014 for Rennais where he provided 18 goals in 74 competitive outings. His performances in the French top flight earned him a berth in France's national team in June 2015.

He has made two appearances for the French national team since then.

"With the signing of Paul-Georges we have significantly increased the quality of our squad," Wolfsburg's head coach Valerien Ismael said.

"He is fast, technically gifted and, despite his young age, already enormously experienced," he added.

Wolfsburg are currently 13th in the Bundesliga standings. They will face Hamburg at the start of the second half of the season on January 21.
