Kolkata, Jan 2 : Indian classical vocalist Pandit Jasraj will re-introduce the morning inauguration of annual Dover Lane Music Conference at its 65th edition after a gap of 15 years at the Nazrul Mancha here on January 22.

Twenty leading artistes in vocal, dhrupad, sitar, sarod, santoor, tabla, flute and Carnatic vocal will be on show during the much sought-after four-day meet which will go on till January 25.

Besides Pandit Jasraj, Ayaan Ali Bangash, Shivkumar Sharma, Hariprasad Chaurasia and Ajoy Chakraborty will also be present.

Five artistes, among them Heasan Haider Khan (Shehnai), Anjana Nath (Vocal), Apoorva Ghokhale and Sudha Raghunathan, will debut at the musical event.

"We are re-introducing the morning session keeping our elderly members in mind who always cannot stay up all night to listen to Pandit Jasraj who usually performs at 4 a.m. in the morning," said Dover Lane Music Conference General Secretary Bappa Sen.

"It was stopped due to several reasons all these years. We are trying to re-introduce it again," he added.

Entry is free for the inaugural programme, the organisers said.
