Shimla, Dec 28 : The Himachal Pradesh government has arranged a helicopter to ferry cash to the remote areas of Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti districts to overcome its shortage post- demonetisation, an official said on Wednesday.

The demonetisation has induced a conducive environment for use of digital mode of transaction through the technology platform, said an official statement quoting Additional Chief Secretary Narender Chauhan.

Presiding over a meeting of state-level Bankers Committee convened by UCO Bank, Chauhan said the banks and stakeholders should encourage the use of digital payments and suggested public awareness camps be organised for the purpose.

He asked the banks to provide point of sale terminals in government offices, hospitals and public areas to reduce the dependence on cash.

With the generation of 72,52,880 Aadhaar cards, the state has achieved 100 per cent Aadhaar saturation, he said.
