Paris, Dec 27 : The best XI of France's Ligue 1 for 2016 included seven footballers from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), according to the list prepared by French newspaper L'Equipe.

The best players in the French league included Brazilians Thiago Silva and Marquinhos and Uruguay's Edinson Cavani from PSG, in addition to Sweden's Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who moved from PSG to Manchester United last June, reports Efe.

The list also had PSG's Italian midfielder Marco Verratti, Ivorian Serge Aurier and Frenchman Adrien Rabiot.

The editors responsible for soccer coverage of the French newspaper and its website, named Cavani as captain of the best team, after the Uruguayan scored 27 goals in 33 matches since the departure of Ibrahimovic.

French goalkeeper Stephane Ruffier of Saint-Etienne was included in the list, while Monaco have two players, Portuguese Bernardo Silva and French Djibril Sidibe.

Frenchman Ousmane Dembele, who moved from Stade Rennais to Borussia Dortmund last May, completed the list of the best 11 players this season.

Thiago Silva, Verratti and Ibrahimovic joined the list for the second time in a row, after they were included in 2015.
