New York, Dec 21 : As a gesture to thank his fans for supporting him in 2016, singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes will be releasing his album "Live at Madison Square Garden" on Friday.

Recorded during the singer/songwriter's sold-out concert on September 10, the new album features the hit singles "Mercy", "Treat you better", "Stitches" and "Life of the party" alongside special medleys of other songs, reports billboard.com.

The album documents Mendes' first time headlining at the historic New York City arena.

The 18-year-old Canadian had an eventful year. His sophomore album "Illuminate" debuted at number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart in September. He also headlined Radio City Music Hall and performed on Saturday Night Live earlier this month.
