New York, Sep 12 : Italy football legend and New York City FCs Andrea Pirlo will soon take to the pitch wearing a pair of custom-made boots that pay homage to the other love of his life: winemaking.
Having spent his childhood harvesting grapes at local vineyards in Flero, Pirlo now owns and operates his very own family winery in the region.
To herald the Italian deep-lying midfielder's appreciation of fine football and fine wine, a leading sports brand has produced a signature boot for him that is designed to look like a bottle of merlot, a report on espnfc reads.
Just to complete the look, Pirlo's boots are shipped in a wooden crate and even have insoles made of genuine cork that read 'aged since 94' -- the year when Pirlo started his career at Brescia -- in classic black scroll.
