Ottawa, Aug 26 : At least three persons, including a woman, were killed in Toronto in a crossbow attack. A 35-year-old man is in custody, police said.

The arrested man was believed to have used a crossbow to kill the three people on Thursday in the garage of an east Toronto bungalow, leaving them crying out in agony as they bled to death on the driveway, the National Post reported.

The incident happened near Markham Road and Eglinton Avenue East in Scarborough.

One of the three victims managed to alert the police, but all were dead by the time the police arrived.

The suspect, who was also seriously injured in the crossbow attack, has not yet been charged or named.

The victims' identities were also being withheld until their families were notified, but they were reported to be related.

Following the incident, a separate criminal investigation was unfolding at the city's waterfront.

In response to an alert about a possible bomb threat, over a suspicious package found at the city waterfront, police despatched members of the chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear team to a condominium building, and closed the surrounding street.

The police believe there could be a possible link between the deadly incident and the suspicious package.
