Rome, Aug 23 : Mexican defender Carlos Salcedo headed to the Italian city of Florence on Monday and will undergo medical checks at the city's side, Fiorentina, on Tuesday before signing his contract with the football club.

Salcedo, 22, who played for Chivas de Guadalajara for the last two seasons, is expected to sign his one-year loan contract to support the defensive lines of Fiorentina, under the command of Portuguese coach Paulo Sousa, reports Efe.

According to Fiorentina, Salcedo's contract has a purchase option clause, which the Italian club can exercise if it wants to make the move permanent.

Despite being just 22, Carlos Salcedo has taken part in Copa America and in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
