Rome, May 2 : Italy's 2006 FIFA World Cup winning captain Fabio Cannavaro has said it is a dream for him to coach the national football side.

The former star defender was the skipper of the side which lifted the global title in 2006 in Berlin and is the second-most capped player in the nation's football history.

"I knew the Azzurri shirt for 15 years. I know very well what it means to be part of the national team. Coaching it would be a dream for anyone. It would be nice," Cannavaro was quoted as saying by football-italia.net on Monday.

The 42-year-old 2006 World Player of the Year has already coached sides like Guangzhou Evergrande and Al-Nassr.
