Buenos Aires, April 8 : Former Manchester City forward Carlos Tevez scored his first goal of the current Copa Libertadores football campaign to help six-time champions Boca Juniors defeat Bolivar 3-1.

The 32-year-old struck from a tight angle after being set up by Uruguay international midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro just before half-time at the La Bombonera stadium here on Thursday, reports Xinhua.

Former Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago and striker Federico Carrizo were also on target for the hosts while Juanmi Callejon pegged a late goal back for the Bolivian outfit.

The result means Boca now have six points from four matches in Group 3 while Bolivar remain on four points.

Contested by clubs in South America and Mexico, the Copa Libertadores is the region's most prestigious club competition. The winner will qualify for a berth at the Club World Cup in December.
