New Delhi, March 14 : BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi on Saturday ridiculed espionage charges levelled by the Congress and said the party considered itself to be above the law.

"They are making an issue out of this because they consider themselves to be bigger than the law. They think that the common practices of law do not apply to them," Trivedi told reporters here.

Arguing that the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah too were checked in a similar manner, Trivedi said the Congress accusation of political espionage showed their mentality.

"It is a common practice that has been followed for years. If they call it espionage, then it shows their mentality."
According to reports, the Delhi Police visited the Congress office last week and asked about party vice-president Rahul Gandhi's physical appearance - his height, colour of eyes and hair.

Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi defended the queries and said it was normal and there was no mala fide motive behind it.
