New Delhi, Aug 21 : Afghan National Army's Chief of General Staff, Gen. Sher Mohammad Karimi called on Indian Air Force chief Arup Raha here Thursday and the two sides discussed ways to strengthen defence cooperation.

Air Chief Marshal Raha, who is also chairman, chiefs of staff committee (COSC), presented a memento to Gen. Karimi.

India and Afghanistan have a strategic partnership agreement (SPA) which provides for assistance to help rebuild Afghanistan's infrastructure and institutions, education and technical assistance to re-build indigenous Afghan capacity in different areas.

It also provides support for an Afghan-led, Afghan-owned, broad-based and inclusive process of peace and reconciliation.
