Mumbai, April 8 : The Communist Party of India (CPI) has vowed to give the country "a non-UPA, non-NDA" central government after the Lok Sabha elections, a party leader said Tuesday.

However, it would not be a Third Front coalition, CPI central secretariat member Shamee Faizee told media persons here.

"I would like to clarify that there is no Third Front, nor are we clamouring to form a government at the centre. We shall ensure that there a non-UPA, non-NDA government after the Lok Sabha elections," said Faizee who campaigned extensively for the party candidates in the state.

Referring to Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, he said that the 'Modi wave' is a creation of the electronic media.

"The falsification of reality is being done in media at the behest of corporate tycoons. We have said in our manifesto that we shall remove corporate clout from the media and push for eradicating the contract system imposed on journalists by media houses, and ensure implementation of the Wage Board Awards which can restore freedom of expression," he said For the first time, CPI has fielded a candidate - Prakash Reddy - in the prestigious Mumbai South constituency challenging the might of the Congress's union minister Milind Deora besides candidates from Shiv Sena, Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, and Aam Aadmi Party.

The party has also put up candidates in other key centres like Bhiwandi (Thane), Parbhani in Marathwada and Gadchiroli-Chimur in eastern Maharashtra.

According to Faizee, these four key constituencies which would counter not only the Congress but also what he termed as 'Modi mafia' which is propped up by the corporate world.

The CPI will bank on the support of lakhs of disgruntled voters of Mumbai South who feel down and left out.

"It's a myth that Mumbai South is the abode of the affluent only - the reality is that the region has many invisible people living in hovels eking out a life which is becoming more and more difficult..." he said.
