ACC on Friday inaugurated a new plant to manufacture eco-friendly bricks under the brand name EcoBricks at Panagarh in Bardhaman, West Bengal. This is the fourth such plant set up by ACC in recent years to meet the emerging needs of the construction industry in a sustainable way.
EcoBricks are eco-friendly and technically superior fly ash based bricks manufactured using state- of-the-art technology. EcoBricks are superior in quality to normal bricks available in the market in terms of strength, water absorption, efflorescence and other parameters. Ecobricks are energy and resource efficient bricks produced using cleaner production techniques.
EcoBricks offer an effective solution to this problem as they are made using industrial waste by-products and hence do not require any top soil excavation. Thus EcoBricks help cut the carbon footprint of construction while conserving natural resources.
C.Kurian, director sales, ACC Cement said, “We have taken this unique leadership initiative to serve the construction industry in a better way keeping in mind importance of building in a more sustainable way. We intend to set up more than 20 such EcoBrick plants in the Eastern Region by 2015 which will cater to the emerging needs of industry.”
“ACC will extend all necessary support in terms raw material sourcing, selection of machineries, raw mix design to the franchisee and will ensure quality control”, said Vikram Gupta, director logistics, ACC Cement.
