Vodafone India launches service in Sela Pass of Arunachal

A Vodafone India press release today said that with the launch made last week, the private sector mobile service provider now offers full-fledged voice and data services to the residents and visitors to this high-altitude mountain pass located 13,700 feet above sea level.

Mobile network provider Vodafone India has launched its SuperNet network and services in high-altitude mountain Sela Pass in Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh.

A Vodafone India press release today said that with the launch made last week, the private sector mobile service provider now offers full-fledged voice and data services to the residents and visitors to this high-altitude mountain pass located 13,700 feet above sea level.

With this expansion, Vodafone now covers 608 towns and villages across 13 districts of Arunachal Pradesh, the release said.

Commenting on this, Vodafone India Business Head - Assam and North East Circle Alok Verma said, "As part of our ongoing endeavour to strengthen network in Arunachal Pradesh with robust telecom infrastructure, Vodafone is now fully equipped to provide excellent connectivity and services to the residents of Sela Pass, which is one of the most challenging terrains to set up telecom infrastructure".

The network expansion to Sela Pass will enable these distant customers as well as visitors to and from Tawang to exercise their choice for telecom services and remain seamlessly connected, it quoted Verma.

"Vodafone's objective is to be the preferred telecom service provider in Assam and North East and be seen as a Company that provides value", he added.

In Assam and North East Circle, Vodafone operates in seven states spanning across 17,800 towns and villages diverse in demographic landscape, catering to an equally diverse populace in terms of culture and language, the release said.

With over 5100 cell sites, 73,000 plus distribution touch points and more than 305 retail touch points, it said Vodafone offers one of the most robust network connectivity to an overall subscriber base of over 5.2 million in Assam and North East, it added.
