The Cotton Association of India has maintained the cotton crop estimates for 2016/17 at 341 lakh bales (one bale = 170 kg) in its latest estimates for January. Consumption is expected to increase marginally to 295 lakh bales compared to previous estimate of 290 lakh bales amid good demand form the textile sector. Total arrivals of cotton in the country as on January 31’ 2017 is reported to be at 157.75 lakh bales.By: Skymetweather.com
