Market Update: Axis Bank top gainer, TCS hits new 52-week high; SBI most active

From the Nifty, the stocks that gained the most were Cipla which jumped over 4 percent while Tech Mahindra was up 2.82 percent. Sun Pharma, Axis Bank and Bharti Infratel were the other top Nifty gainers.

The Indian benchmark indices on Wednesday morning were trading flat with the Nifty down 3 points or 0.03 percent while the Sensex was up 4.91 points at 33375.

The Nifty midcap index was trading almost flat, up 0.05 percent with stocks like HPCL, Reliance Capital, SAIL, TVS Motor and Unitech trading in the red.

Bank Nifty was also trading in the red, down 0.18 percent led by Yes Bank and State Bank of India. However, stocks like Axis Bank jumped close to 2 percent while Bank of India and IndusInd Bank were trading in the green

From the Nifty, the stocks that gained the most were Cipla which jumped over 4 percent while Tech Mahindra was up 2.82 percent. Sun Pharma, Axis Bank and Bharti Infratel were the other top Nifty gainers. The most active stocks included Bharti Infratel, Lupin, Axis Bank, Cipla and State Bank of India.

The top Nifty loser were Bharti Airtel which fell over 4 percent while HPCL, Indian Oil Corporation, Yes Bank and BPCL shed over 1 percent each.

From the BSE, the stocks that gained the most included Polaris which zoomed over 5 percent while Ujjivan Financial jumped over 4 percent. Adani Enterprises, Cipla and Tata Elxsi were the other top Sensex gainers. The top losers were Bharti Airtel, Finolex Cables, Prestige Estates, MMTC and Manappuram Finance.

The stocks that hit new 52-week high on NSE included Axis Bank, KPIT Tech, NBCC, Nestle, Ashoka Buildcon, Balmer Lawrie and Globus Spirits. From the BSE, the stocks that hit fresh 52-week high were TCS, Wabco India, TeamLease Services, Greenlam Industries, Polaris Consulting and IFB Industries.

The market breadth was in favour of the advances on Wednesday morning with 829 stocks advancing as against 737 declines. On the other hand, 1088 stocks advanced and 1009 stocks declined on the BSE.

Technical Analyst Ashwani Gujral of ashwanigujral.com has a buy on NBCC with a stop loss of Rs 280, target of Rs 295.
