Kansai Nerolac to revamp Mumbai’s Dadar station

August 28, 2016 / 11:41 AM IST

Suresh Prabhu, Rail Minister, inaugurated the process of refurbishing Dadar station with HM Bharuka, Managing Director, Kansai Nerolac Paints Ltd.
Kansai Nerolac Paints Limited has adopted one of Mumbai’s busiest central railway stations, Dadar for a refurbishing programme. Dadar sees a daily traffic of around 125,000 people. Suresh Prabhu, Rail Minister inaugurated the process of refurbishing this landmark station in the presence of HM Bharuka, Managing Director, Kansai Nerolac Paints Ltd and AK Shrivastava, GM Central Railway, at a ceremony held recently. The adoption of stations is a new concept initiated by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu. To make the ‘Swachh Rail’ dream a reality, prominent social organisations and NGOs were contacted by Central and Western Railways. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat movement, the Indian Railways launched the ‘Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’.
The revamp of Dadar station is a part of a CSR initiative Kansai Nerolac Paints undertakes for Preventive Health Care & Sanitization, to ensure environmental sustainability. The project will be carried out in three phases with phase one already being executed — revamping the outer facade for outstation platforms, landscaping outside the station, and the areas adjacent to platform no 6; and renovation and modification of toilets on platform no 6. The phase two of the programme would see a standdardiztion of all hoardings and signages in all the platforms. While benches, dustbins and painting the walls along the platforms and more would be the tasks scheduled for phase three.
