India asks WTO to discipline visa fee norms and immigration rules

The country has asked to end the discriminatory salary requirements. It has also proposed to the WTO to make the visa fees more reasonable and transparent.

India recently submitted a draft global agreement on trade facilitation related to the services sector to the World Trade Organisation. While the fine print of the proposed pact is not yet made public, CNBC-TV18 has learnt that India has pitched for disciplining visa fee norms and rules of immigration.

The country has asked to end the discriminatory salary requirements. It has also proposed to the WTO to make the visa fees more reasonable and transparent.

New Delhi has also asked WTO to exempt the professionals with a visa from additional payments.
