Daimler ships India-made FUSO trucks to Trinidad & Tobago

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), a 100 percent subsidiary of Daimler AG along with group firm Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation, has launched the FUSO trucks.

Expanding its overseas market, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles has shipped 'Made in India' FUSO trucks to South American market, making it the 12th international destination.

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), a 100 percent subsidiary of Daimler AG along with group firm Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation, has launched the FUSO trucks, produced at its plant at Oragadam near here, in Trinidad and Tobago in South America, a company release said today. The company is producing five models across 25-49 tonne, 9-16 tonne categories.

Currently, the trucks are exported to Sri Lanka, Kenya, Zambia and Tanzania and other countries.

"To start exporting to Trinidad and Tobago reflects once again: we are well on track with our export business. The success of DICV built trucks, across markets shows our proficiency in manufacturing trucks in India..", Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, Managing Director and CEO, Erich Nesselhauf said.

The Oragadam plant was set up at an investment of Rs 4,400 crore spread across 400 acres. Besides manufacturing trucks under the Bharat Benz and FUSO brands, DICV manufactures and sells Mercedes-Benz Actros Trucks in India.

Daimler India is in the process of setting up a dedicated manufacturing facility for Daimler Buses under the Mercedes Benz and BharatBenz brands.

The new plant would also include a body-building facility within the existing premises at Oragadam.
