Delhi govt targets 10,000 jobs in next leg of job summit

Employment Minister Gopal Rai today held a meeting with various companies, NGOs and umbrella organisations like FICCI, ASSOCHAM and CII. The minister said the meeting discussed the next leg of the job summit which will aim at improving the employability skills of job seekers.

Buoyed by the success of its first job summit, the Delhi government on Thursday said it will soon organise another round of the event under which it would provide jobs to around 10,000 people. Employment Minister Gopal Rai today held a meeting with various companies, NGOs and umbrella organisations like FICCI, ASSOCHAM and CII. The minister said the meeting discussed the next leg of the job summit which will aim at improving the employability skills of job seekers.

"It was decided that a bridge will be established to fill the gap of skill, lack of attitude, confidence of the job seekers to enhance their employability," he said. The minister said the department will take a call on a date and a venue for screening of job seekers for the next job summit after confirming participation of companies and job description of posts, including the posts for Person with Disabilities. In the first job summit held from August 1 to 8, as many as 21,00 people were offered job by different companies.
