New Delhi: The Khap heads of Western Uttar Pradesh have started raising their voice against a proposed bill aimed at ending the social crime of honour killing.
The new bill named as “Prohibition of interference with the freedom of matrilineal alliances bill" has several clauses for punishment if the Khaps or any other member tries to stop any adult couple from getting married.
The members of the All Khap Union have decided to stage protest against this bill starting from district level to Parliament if required. The president of Bhartiya Kisaan Union has said if the bill gets the approval and becomes a law then people of this region will not let girls born in their families.
The voice of protest against this bill has already started in Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. The president of Bhartiya Kissan Union Naresh Tikat has said that if this bill becomes a law then this will be a blot on the society and it will affect the social structure of the society.
The members of the Khap have also decided to meet the representatives of various states which have given their approval to the bill.
