Newborn declared dead, alive at home

In a preterm delivery at the Delhi`s Safdarjung Hospital, hospital staff handed over a newborn, presumed dead, to the parents; the baby boy was in fact alive.


The hospital staff had found no signs of life despite making countless attempts to revive him, and gave the dead` baby in a sealed pack, according to the family. Much to their surprise, the family found that the infant was alive and moving, when they opened the pack to see the boy`s face. An enquiry has been ordered into this apparent lapse` at the hospital.
