Comedian Balaji, has worked in a number of movies sharing screen space with Vivekh and Vadivelu before carving a niche for himself as a television anchor and a reality show judge. A few years ago, he fell in love with Nithya and married her and the couple have a daughter Porshika. The duo has also participated as a pair in a dance show.

During the dance show itself in an episode Nithya complained about harassment by Balaji but people dismissed this as an attempt by the TV channel to up the TRP ratings. However, yesterday Nithya lodged a complaint at the Madhavaram police station stating that Balaji is harassing her and is also using her caste name to degrade her. The police has started an inquiry into the matter.
