Silambarasan aka Simbu or STR as he is fondly referred to by fans , is one of the very few actors who have made it big as a hero after entering Tamil film industry as a child artist. He has completed more than 15 years as a hero actor and this illustrious journey has seen many hits, flops, controversies, bouquets and brickbats.

Simbu's film career is on a highly positive note as he has had a blockbuster hit through 'Achcham Yenbathu Madamaiyada' after a long gap in 2016. He is presently acting in 'Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan' directed by Adhik Ravichandran. He is playing three different characters in the film and will be sporting experimental get ups in the film. 'AAA' scheduled to hit the screens in Summer this year is easily one of the most anticipated films of the year.

Having carved a niche as a commercial star, screen writer, director, singer and lyricist will be making his debut as a music director, he is working on the musical score for the film 'Sakka Podu Podu Raja' which has his friend Santhanam in the lead role.

Last December-January, Simbu was facing the worst crisis of his life. A section of people were bating for his arrest under non-bailable charges for the 'Beep song' which has been leaked. Even at the height of such protests. the actor never disowned the song but asserted that it was released to public by miscreants and he cannot be held responsible for the some. He stood grounded in his stand and never succumbed to the pressure to apologize for a mistake he has never committed. That's one of the highly admirable qualities in him.

This year in the same months the actor's speeches and activities have increased the respect and admiration for him in the minds of people, especially the youngsters. He actively took part and supported the pro-Jallikattu protests held across Tamil Nadu,mainly spearheaded by students and youngsters. Known for his outspoken and bold nature, the actor boldly criticized the alleged police violence against protesters and also demanded the release of the protesters who have been arrested. This has raised the goodwill and respect for Silambarasan to new heights.
