Police Departments Issue Spoof PSAs Over 'Deadly Gluten' In Meth

"Bring your meth down to the PD and we will test it for you for free!"

Police are making meth users a tongue-in-cheek offer they’ll likely refuse.

Departments across the country have said they’ll help check anyone’s drugs for traces of “deadly gluten” ― but it’s actually a ruse to arrest them.

California’s Newark Police Department shared details of its offer on Facebook last Thursday:

Is your meth laced with deadly gluten?” the department asked. “Not sure? Bring your meth down to the PD and we will test it for you for free!”

The post has since garnered more than 15,000 likes.

Its viral success prompted the Buena Park Police Department, also in California, to follow suit with its proposal:

As did the Tecumseh Police Department, in Oklahoma:

And so did Niceville Police Department in Florida:

No one had come forward to get their stash tested by early Wednesday.

You never know how much info you’re going to get in the comments,” Nice Police Chief David Popwell told the NFW Daily News.

“Hopefully it will help families to have a good discussion,” he added. “And it let’s people know that police have a sense of humor, too.”

Some commenters questioned whether police actually expected people to fall for the trick. Most, however, saw the lighthearted side of the post:
