Dedicated Utility Worker Gets Down And Very Dirty To Fix Burst Pipe

Jimmie Cox went below and beyond to repair the water line.

Jimmie Cox will go to any length, and depth, to fix a burst water pipe.

A photograph shows the 23-year-old Texas utility worker submerged headfirst in muddy water outside Andrea Adams’ Granbury home.

Wrangler Jeans is hailing Cox as an everyday American hero, but the Acton Municipal Utility District employee said he was just doing his job.

“In this line of work, people do it a lot,” Cox told ABC affiliate WFAA this week.

Adams took the amusing picture last week as Cox was reaching 5 feet into the water to try to clamp the line.

She posted the photo, in which only Cox’s lower torso and legs can be seen, to Facebook. It spread quickly, leading Adams to suspend her account because the notifications and messages became overwhelming.

Cox, meanwhile, managed to stop the leak by cutting the pipe and putting a valve on it.

“I’m real proud of him,” Adams said.
