Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton on Saturday gave birth to a baby girl as announced by Kensington Palace. The baby - who is fourth in line to the throne - was “safely delivered” at 08:34 BST, reports BBC .
A huge number of journalists, photographers and broadcasters had gathered around Lindo Wing, where the royal baby was born.
An official statement from the palace read, “The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news.”
Social media has been following the second Royal baby’s arrival with bated breath ever since Middleton went into labour early on Saturday.
Once it was announced that the baby is a girl, Twitter hasn’t stopped the congratulations messages and the jokes. Here are some tweets:
I'd have thought 8lbs 3oz was a bad name for the #RoyalBaby but what do I know?
