The new chip by MediaTek features 64-bit quad-core processor, with four ARM Cortex-A53 cores with max CPU frequency clocked at up to 1.5 GHz. The company has also added IMG GE8100 GPU so that the device can handle graphics-intensive tasks. The GPU operates at up to 570 MHz and supports HD Plus (1440 x 720) resolution 18:9 display ratio. The MediaTek MT6739 supports dual 4G VoLTE SIM Standby at a time which is also known as ‘Dual SIM Dual Standby’ (DSDS).

The DSDS technology is not limited to two 4G SIMs at any given time as the processor also supports a 4G and a 3G SIM at any given time. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, FM and GPS. The  MT6739 supports eMMC 5.1 memory chip for storage and LPDDR3 with a maximum of 3 GB DRAM clocked at 667 MHz on any mobile device.

The company claims that the chip is ‘future-proof’ as its equipped with new connectivity technologies such as eMBMS, HPUE and 600MHz LTE frequency band are supported by the chip. A company blog post says that the chip aims the users who want to make a jump from older or less powerful connections to 4G VoLTE connections. The multimedia capabilities of the chip allow it to support a maximum of 13 MP ISP along with FHD video capture at 30 FPS. The interesting thing to note here is that MT6739 also supports dual camera setups.
