Cristiano Ronaldo has criticised referee Undiano Mallenco of favoring Barcelona following Real Madrid’s 4-3 loss in the EL Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu.

A fiercely contested match saw referee Mallenco award three penalties including a controversial one in favor of Real Madrid just after the start of the second half. Barcelona were awarded two penalties, both converted by Lionel Messi while Madrid’s Sergio Ramos was given his marching orders with a straight red for fouling Neymar inside the box in the 63rd minute.

Ronaldo was livid with referee Undiano Mallenco after the game. “Undiano Mallenco is not suitable for games like this. We were playing against 12. It’s always the same. It’s like they don’t want us to win and wanted Barcelona back in the title race,” he told reporters

“I am not looking for excuses but I don’t want to stay quiet on this. The referee was not at the required level for a big game like this.

“I have been here for five years now and I know how things work. If Barcelona had lost, they would have been out of the title race. I have never seen Real Madrid being favoured by the referees,” he added. In spite of the El Clasico loss at the Bernabeu, Ronaldo is confident of Madrid’s chances of winning the title. “Regardless of all that happened, Madrid will still win La Liga.”
