A report in the Times of India has revealed that syringes were found in the rooms occupied by Indian athletes during the recent Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The International Olympic Committee rules, that were brought into practice since London Olympics 2012, state that all the injections with the athletes during the course of the event need to be medically justified.

Luckily, the Indian team management escaped serious penalties as they were let off with a warning on all the three occasions with a written undertaking that the athletes would be duly educated about the anti-doping rule violation and the management would carry out regular checks in the athlete’s rooms.

India’s chef de mission Raj Singh confirmed the news but came out in support of the athletes maintaining that they were clean and the syringes were solely for vitamin dosage.

Raj Singh told the Times of India , “The athletes used the syringes to administer multi-vitamin doses, there was no rule violation involved. I was present at the medical commission hearing and they too gave us a clean chit.”
