Hambantota: After teenager Wanidu Hasaranga’s hat-trick heroics in the second ODI helped hosts Sri Lanka claim a seven-wicket victory over Zimbabwe and level the series at 1-1, the hosts will look to assert their superiority at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota on Wednesday.
The visitors had snatched a historic six-wicket victory in the first ODI, thanks to Solomon Mire’s heroics. Mire smashed his maiden one-day century and will look to spur his team as they take on the buoyant Sri Lankans.
The newly refurbished Hambantota last hosted an ODI two years ago but has been handed the last three ODIs of the series.
However, the authorities at the venue are on high alert for a herd of elephants, which has been known to invade the ground at the venue.
The 35,000-capacity stadium is next to an elephant sanctuary.
