Sebastian Vettel won the Australian Grand Prix for Ferrari to dash Mercedes’ hopes of extending their dominance into a fourth successive season of Formula 1.

Lewis Hamilton driving the (44) Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team Mercedes F1 WO8 led Sebastian Vettel driving the (5) Scuderia Ferrari SF70H at the start of the Australian Grand Prix. Hamilton was first to pit on lap 18 to change tyres. However, it proved a turning point in the race as he rejoined behind Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and was then unable to pass the feisty Dutch teenager, as Vettel forged ahead. Getty
