Reacting sharply to the ouster of Lalit Modi and three top officials through a no confidence motion, which was allegedly passed in a controversial manner, former RCA vice president Mehmood Abdi called it a black day for Rajasthan Cricket.

Alleging that it was a move which had the backing of the Government machinery and it should be deplored by one and all, Abdi said the voting numbers were fudged.

“As per the High Court order minimum 25 votes were required to be caste in favor of the motion which comes to three-fourth of the total 33 RCA members. Since Amin Pathan could not muster the number, near this figure of 25, even in his earlier attempt on October 11 last year, which was declared illegal by the High Court, he sought for forceful prevention of 12 members opposing the motion. By doing so he sought to bring down the strength of the house to just 18 present wherein he had his motion passed. They were all the proposers of the motion,” Abdi alleged.

“Our vehicles were stopped and the hoodlums forcefully entered the two mini buses and started beating the occupants. Over 15 people were injured in this attack are referred to hospitals in Jaipur. The mob also charged the vehicles with heavy stone pelting which also injured many members of RCA. The purpose of this pre-meditated attack was to intimidate and prevent the members opposing the no-confidence motion from attending the meeting,” Abdi said.

“This is the mockery not only of the High Court order but a black day for every democratic institution,” he added.

“Against this blatant use of brutal force in broad daylight by hoodlums and depriving the legitimate members of their right to vote by the Chairman of the RSSC We have moved the Rajasthan High Court and the matter is coming up tomorrow,” he said.
