IPL 2017: MI pacer Tim Southee rushes for washroom break as teammates dissolve in laughter

Alas, buses carrying IPL teams don’t come with washrooms! And if there was someone who was in the need for one, it was Mumbai Indians pacer Tim Southee.

The New Zealander had his moment of embarrassment when he had to stop the team bus to run to the washroom. His teammates saw the funny side of it and Harbhajan Singh, who is known to be a prankster apart from being an ace off-spinner, made a video of it all and shared on Twitter. Here’s a look at his tweet:

“You gotta run, Timmy. Otherwise you will be in trouble,” Bhajji is heard saying, as we see Southee rush out of the bus and disappear inside the hotel.

“Does anybody know where Timmy is going?” Harbhajan turns around and asks the waiting Mumbai Indians contingent, drawing guffaws from the players and the support staff. Even captain Rohit Sharma, even as much as he would have wanted to keep his composure, could not hide his laughter. Some of the answers to Bhajji’s question were straight out of a jaunty college excursion. What it goes to show significantly, is the brotherly bonding among the Mumbai Indians team members, which is very important for a side to do well in a competition. It is this bond that works most during difficult times, providing the players the wherewithal to come back stronger.

The video goes on, embroidered to allude Southee spending time in the washroom, struggling with digestive predicament.

There is a loud cheer of welcome as Southee climbs back into the bus after sometime. “There he is. Yay, he is done,” exclaims Harbhajan. Where Southee has to be given credit is that he took it all sportingly.

“How was it, Timmy? Was it good?” Bhajji asks, to which Southee is seen giving a thumbs up. “Not bad toilets in there,” Southee adds.

This incident invariably reminds you of Australian opener Matt Renshaw, having to run to the washroom mid-innings during the first Test against India, only a couple of months back. David Warner had just got out and Renshaw’s washroom break meant that there were suddenly two new batsmen at the crease, which put the team in bit of a pickle. It did not please captain Steve Smith though.

“He (Smith) wasn’t too thrilled about it but he understands that when you need to go to the toilet, you’ve got to go to the toilet,” Renshaw said when asked about the incident. South African batsman AB de Villiers has also to take a similar washroom break in a Test match against West Indies a few years back.

All you can say in Southee’s support, in Renshaw’s words, is, when you got to the toilet, you got to go. Period.
