That’s it from us here. Do join us for the 2nd T20I tomorrow. Until then, good bye and take care.
What a match! After 40 overs, almost 500 runs and two centuries, we finally have time to take a breather. With 2 needed off the last ball, India were expected to successfully chase down the highest score ever. But West Indies reminded us that they are the World Champions as DJ Bravo gave just 6 runs off his last over, in a match where the average score per over was at least 12. India’s first match in USA was a belter and the crowd might have had a cracker of time. For India, it was the case of so close but yet so far. In the first innings, we witnessed pure power as Lewis scored his first T20I ton. However, in the second innings elegance and orthodox strokeplay was on the offer as Rahul relied on timing to get to his maiden century. He must be disappointed to see his knock end in a losing cause, but will also be proud of his maiden T20I ton. When whole of India relied on Virat Kohli to take the men in blue home this young Karnataka batsman decided to show the skills he possesses. Overall, this match promised one thing, it will inspire quite a few kids to take up cricket in USA.
It was a good team effort and Bravo’s over stood out, says Brathwaite his first post-match talk as West Indian captain at the presentation ceremony.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni on the last ball: The thinking was right, execution was wrong. Everything is judged by execution.
Evin Lewis named as the man of the match. He scored an outstanding ton to help West Indies score a huge target of 245.

MS Dhoni today. #IndvsWI
Champion dance has started. Bravo gave only six runs of the last over. Rahul’s fantastic innings of 110 ends in agony. So close, but yet so far. What a game of cricket we had on offer in the US. The crowd has got nothing to complain about.
OUT!! What a anti-climax!! No, Dhoni! India loses the match by one run. The West Indian celebrations are beyond control.
Bravo is taking time and adjusting his fields, Common!! Bowl the last ball already. The West Indian camp are having a talk here. Commentators predicting the shot Dhoni would play.Tension, all around!
Superb fielding by Bravo and the ball runs straight towards Pollard, Dhoni takes a double and will take strike for the last ball. 2 needed of it!
Bravo is bowling tremendously well under pressure. Only 4 came of his 4 balls. India needs 4 of the last 2 balls. Dhoni on strike!
No! Leg-bye. Another single for India. 5 needed of 3.
Single taken by Rahul. Dhoni is back on strike. 6 needed. Will he finish it off in style?
DROPPED! Samuels has dropped a regulation catch, will this be the catch that cost West Indies the match? India need 7 of 5 balls.
After 19 overs,India 238/3 ( Lokesh Rahul 108 , MS Dhoni (C) (W) 40)
What a turnaround of events this match has witnessed, India just need 8 of the last over. Wow, What a match! 16 of the 19th over.
Wow @klrahul11 last 3 100's ,one each in in ODI, test, T20 all completed with a six.

Bravo begins the over with a ball on pads and Dhoni plays it towards third man for a four. But DJ backs by giving only three of the next two. What a yorker!! Rahul came down the pitch to attack only to fall flat on his face with his bat some metres away from him. Brilliant over in the context of the game. Only 9 of it.

After 17 overs,India 213/3 ( Lokesh Rahul 94 , MS Dhoni (C) (W) 31)
DHONI!!!! Hits his first six of the match. Surely, India needs those helicopter shots now that this chase looks quite possible. And one more towards mid-wicket. A huge one!!! 108 metres! India needs 40 of 20 balls, if they chase it, it will be the highest successful chase ever. Sensible play from the Indian captain, takes a single after hitting a six. And Rahul says thanks captain and hits another maximum towards mid-wicket.
In MS Dhoni territory now...win it from here, skipper 😊👍 #INDvWI

Rahul playing brilliantly well and hitting the ball on the rise here. The crowd is demanding for a six with the chants “WE WANT SIX, WE WANT SIX!” India needs 53 with 24 balls remaining. We are set for a nail biting finish.
If India win this match, it will be sensational chase. And even if I have to repeat myself, K L Rahul has been spectacular...
— Cricketwallah (@cricketwallah) August 27, 2016

Rahul slices Brathwaite for a six over third man. The crowd has started chanting “RAAAAHUL, RAAAHUL. On the very last ball, Rahul was hit on the toe and looked in some pain but looks fine now and hit the West Indian captain for a four on the last ball.

After 14 overs,India 168/3 ( Lokesh Rahul 69 , MS Dhoni (C) (W) 12)
Pressure taking a toll on even on the best of the bowlers as Narine leaks 18. Rahul hit a six followed by boundaries and is batting on 69
After 13 overs,India 150/3 ( Lokesh Rahul 52 , MS Dhoni (C) (W) 12)
West Indian captain Brathwaite bowling to India’s captain and Dhoni hits the first ball of the over for four at deep backward square. Pollard makes a risky save at the long-off boundary only to give India 12 runs of the over.
After 12 overs,India 138/3 ( Lokesh Rahul 51 , MS Dhoni (C) (W) 1)
Good over for West Indies as just 7 came of it and Pollard took the important wicket of Rohit. Captain MS Dhoni has walked in to join Rahul at the crease.
OUT! Oh no, Rohit! Charles catches him at mid wicket of Pollard’s delivery. The Mumbai-based batsman walks after scoring 62 of just 28 balls.

FIFTY!!! And what a way to bring it. A four towards covers. What a magnificent year it has been for the Karnataka batsman!
After 11 overs,India 131/2 ( Rohit Sharma 62 , Lokesh Rahul 46)
Bravo has so far just given 9 runs in his first five balls. But bowls a full toss on the very last ball and Rohit punishes him for a six towards mid-wicket.
Very classy from @ImRo45. Makes batting a pleasure and still gets 50(22)
— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) August 27, 2016
Even if 2 wickets have fallen India matching Windies batting blow for blow. How rapidly has L Rahul grown in stature!
— Cricketwallah (@cricketwallah) August 27, 2016
Only David Warner (18) and Mohammad Ashraful (20) have hit a fifty off fewer balls vs West Indies than Rohit Sharma (22).#IndvsWI
— Rajneesh Gupta (@rgcricket) August 27, 2016
After 10 overs,India 116/2 ( Rohit Sharma 53 , Lokesh Rahul 40)
West Indies becoming a little sloppy on field as they gave two extra runs to India of a overthrow on first ball. Overall a decent over for India as 10 come of it.
FIFTY for Rohit Sharma just of 22 balls. So far, 4 boundaries and 3 sixes have come in his knock. India needs him till the very last if they have to chase the mammoth target down.
Yeh match abhi baaki hai mere dost. Rahul hitting makkhan shots.

After 9 overs,India 104/2 ( Rohit Sharma 43 , Lokesh Rahul 38)
Russell does all the hard work on the fifth ball at long off only to drop Rahul on 38. Can Rahul take advantage of the dropped catch?

India have come prepared for the task and letting the run rate go out of their hand. Sunil Narine looks flabbergasted as Rohit hits him for back to back sixes.Rahul tries to be play a reverse sweep and gets no run. In
I don't know how many he will get today but there is something about KL Rahul; in whichever form of the game he plays.
— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) August 27, 2016
After 7 overs,India 80/2 ( Rohit Sharma 27 , Lokesh Rahul 30)
Rahul is looking really good here. Opens the phase of the bat and plays a sensational shot and there’s more on offer from him, he hits the very next ball for a four towards cover.
Good powerplay for India. Field restrictions are over now. The men in blue should not let the momentum slip now.
After 6 overs,India 67/2 ( Rohit Sharma 25 , Lokesh Rahul 19)
Goodness gracious. What a match! Rahul sweeps one for a four and comes down the ground to hit the second ball for a maximum. Good cricket overall as Narine bowls a dot ball on the third ball. Sunil’s mystery isn’t working at all on Rahul as he hits one more towards covers. 16 of the 6th over.
After 5 overs,India 51/2 ( Rohit Sharma 25 , Lokesh Rahul 3)
Bravo took the massive wicket of Kohli and gave just 9 runs in the 5th over. Rahul has walked in to replace him.
OUT!! Huge setback. Kohli tries to pull but gloves it to keeper. DJ Bravo is ecstatic. The tunes of ‘Champion’ have begun in the US.
After 4 overs,India 42/1 ( Rohit Sharma 24, Virat Kohli 11)
Kohli has started amazingly well. He hit Badree for two fours of the 3rd over.
After 3 overs,India 31/1 ( Rohit Sharma 24 ,)
India have lost Ajinkya Rahane early on the last ball of the over but India have not let runs dry up as Rohit Sharma scored 12 of the over.
OUT!! Rahane tries to be cheeky and plays a upper cut, ball seemed to go beyond the boundary line only to be undone by a brilliant diving catch by Dwayne Bravo. Rahane walks back in utmost disbelief.
Will probably come down to Rohit and Kohli. But will need significant support from the rest
— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) August 27, 2016

Samuel Badree to bowl the second over of the match. Consecutive boundaries for Rohit Sharma and follows it up with a boundary on the last ball. Good over this for India.
FOUR! Rohit slashes it over point for the first boundary of the innings. #WIvInd https://t.co/LpCHbEPfgH
— Firstpost Sports (@FirstpostSports) August 27, 2016
After 1 overs,India 5/0 ( Rohit Sharma 4 , Ajinkya Rahane 1)
Only 5 of the first over by Russell. He ends it with a bouncer. India have to score quickly before the required run rate goes out of hand.
Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane will open for India, while Andre Russell will start the proceedings for West Indies.
West Indies have scored a mammoth 245 and India have a huge task ahead of them. The damage was done right at the start as the Caribbean side started off brilliantly in the first six overs which set the momentum and the Calypso boys didn’t look behind from there. Did they miss Chris Gayle? I don’t think so. Star of the match Lewis who was playing in just his second T20I match scored a magnificent ton. A poor bowling effort by India overall which saw Lewis hit Stuart Binny for 5 sixes in an over!!! Ravichandran Ashwin as usual was the most economical bowler for India as he gave only 36 in his spell, yes a economy of 9. That explains what a run fest this match was. However, the Indian team finished well as they restricted the West Indies under 250. Can India chase this target? It is very difficult but the ground is comparatively small. One thing is sure, India would need a Virat Kohli special if they have to win this match!!
Lewis ton propels West Indies to 245/6. India pulled it back in the end with 46/5 in last 5 overs. #WIvInd https://t.co/LpCHbEPfgH
— Firstpost Sports (@FirstpostSports) August 27, 2016
After 20 overs,West Indies 245/6 ( Dwayne Bravo 1 , Marlon Samuels 1)
Bumrah fails to take a hattrick but bowls a fantastic last over to restrict West Indies below 250.
One more!! Three wickets in the last over. Bumrah bowls a yorker and Simmons is bowled. Hattrick chance for the young bowler.
OUT! Pollard goes for a scoop, misses, Bumrah hits! #WIvInd https://t.co/LpCHbEPfgH

SIX! Pollard brings up West Indies' highest score in T20Is with a scintillating six over deep mid-wicket. #WIvInd https://t.co/LpCHbEPfgH
— Firstpost Sports (@FirstpostSports) August 27, 2016
OUT!! Late drama in the match. Bumrah bowls a no-ball but is fast to react and hits the ball on the stumps as Brathwaite is run out!
After 19 overs,West Indies 235/3 ( Kieron Pollard 15 , Carlos Brathwaite (C) 14)
India has done well under circumstances and have given only 30 of the last three overs.

Oh, no! Bumrah bowls a no-ball. West Indies get a free hit and Brathwaite punishes the bowler by hitting a four. A rare dot ball in the match as Bumrah bowls a yorker. Excellent keeping by Dhoni as he saves a certain boundary! Only 1 run of the last three balls.
After 17 overs,West Indies 215/3 ( Kieron Pollard 3 , Carlos Brathwaite (C) 8)
Just 10 of the 17th over. Shami has ended his spell and has given 48 runs of his four overs.

After 16 overs,West Indies 205/3 ( Kieron Pollard 1 , Carlos Brathwaite (C) 0)
Good over. Just six runs conceded and more importantly two wickets. India should take advantage of the situation and bowl tight lines to restrict West Indies to 235-240.
OUT!! Jadeja takes two in one over. Hint of turn and Lewis mistimes his shot and is caught at covers by Ashwin.
OUT!! Ravindra Jadeja traps Andre Russell LBW! Russell walks for 22.

A very good over from Ashwin. A started off giving away just a single off the first three balls. But then Lewis released some pressure with a top-edged six over deep square leg. But Ashwin made sure the over ended well as he conceded just 8 runs from it.

After 12 overs,West Indies 168/1 ( Evin Lewis 85 , Andre Russell 2)
Excellent over for India under circumstances, easily the best one of the match. Just four of Ashwin’s 3rd over. Dhoni must be thinking what to do after his spell gets over.
After 11 overs,West Indies 164/1 ( Evin Lewis 82 , Andre Russell 1)
Somewhere in India, Yuvraj Singh would be wondering what’s going wrong for the Indian team? as Evin Lewis hits Binny for 5 sixes. 32 runs of the 11th over.
Stuart Binny comes into the attack and is hit out of the ground of the first two balls. Lewis slams the first one towards mid-wicket and hits the next one straight. Pressure mounting on Binny as he bowls the third one wide. Third maximum!!! Fourth one!!! Will he go for six sixes here?
At last a yorker! Lengths bowled today would be revealing.

Ravichandran Aswhin comes into the attack. India desperately needs a wicket, can he get the breakthrough? NO! Charles is showing no intentions to stop and hits two sixes to bring his fifty in style. The Caribbean side has scored 78 in just 6 overs!!!

The West Indian side are making use of the field restrictions and should be more than happy for the start they have got. Lewis hits Bumrah straight down the ground for a six and follows it up with a boundary on the off-side. Shot!! Length ball and Charles sends the ball flying towards the mid-wicket.

The ground seems to have good batting conditions. Charles is using the pace and has hit Bhuvneshwar for consecutive fours followed by a double. 13 runs of the over.
After 3 overs, West Indies 33/0 (Charles 21, Lewis 11)
Charles is going for everything, India needs to curb the flowing runs before it is too late.
FOUR! Short from Bumrah, Lewis hammers the pull over mid-wicket. It was a slower one & Lewis waited to put it away. https://t.co/LpCHbEPfgH

After 2 overs, West Indies 24/0 (Charles 21, Lewis 2)
A good start for West Indies.
After 1 over, West Indies 17/0 (Charles 15, Lewis 1)
Shami bowls the first one down the leg side. Charles is making sure that Chris Gayle is not missed, hit the Indian for a six and a four on consecutive deliveries. The outfield looks very first and the Calypso boys are off to a blistering start. After the commencement of first over, the Caribbean side are 17 for no loss.
SIX! Charles gets off the mark in style. Hammers it over long on off Shami. #WIvInd https://t.co/LpCHbEPfgH

Big news. West Indies’ mainstay Chris Gayle will not play the first T20I match. Huge setback for the Calypso boys considering the fact that Gayle has an extraordinary average of 138 at the United States’ stadium.
