Bruzon’s appointment comes after the side parted ways with earlier coach Santosh Kashyap. Born in Vigo, Spain, 39-year-old Bruzon, an UEFA ‘A’ level pro license holder, comes with a lot of coaching experience at the highest level. The Spaniard has previous experience of working in India and in the I-League. The Spaniard coached Sporting Clube de Goa from 2012-2014 before being roped in as assistant coach of Indian Super League team Mumbai City FC during the 2015-16 season. He helped Sporting Club de Goa to 6th and 5th place finishes in 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons respectively. Under him, Sporting reached the final of the Federation Cup in 2013-14.

On his appointment, Oscar said, “I want the players to believe we can do it. I don’t want to go further than the next match. We play Churchill Brothers next and that’s our only focus right now.”

Mumbai FC, who currently lie at the bottom of the I-League table with 10 points from 14 matches, take on Churchill Brothers in Goa on 8 April.
