MS Dhoni seems to have finally delivered on the promise on spending more time with his family, specifically daughter Ziva, as was evident in the rather adorable image he shared on his social media accounts. Sporting an overgrown beard, he was seen holding his 15-month-old daughter in the photograph. However, the long beard, which looks suspiciously artificial, did steal the show a little from Ziva as Dhoni looks almost unrecognisable with the hairy growth and sunglasses.

Dhoni, India’s limited overs captain, is enjoying a well-deserved break now that the Indian team has a packed Test cricket schedule for the next few months. And he seems to be making full use of this break to bond with his daughter, who he claimed, albeit in a light-hearted tone, wouldn’t be able to recognise him.

“I think after a long time, I will take some time off cricket after this series (T20Is). Don’t think my daughter (15-month old Ziva) still recognizes me. I will make my daughter feel that I am her dad and spend time with family,” Dhoni was quoted as saying during the recent tour of Zimbabwe, in which he led his side to 3-0 and 2-1 wins in the ODI and T20I series’ respectively.

Dhoni, who retired from Test cricket midway during the 2014-15 edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, will next be seen in action during the first match of the five-game ODI series between India and New Zealand in Dharamsala on 16 October.

India are currently in the Caribbean, playing their second warm-up match before the four-match Test series against West Indies gets underway on 21 July at St Kitts. India drew their first practice match against the WICB President’s XI, and were in command on the second day of the ongoing three-day tour fixture against the same opposition.
