New Delhi: “You are losing ground…We have won Mumbai, now we are eyeing Kolkata,” Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday said while taking pot shots at Trinamool Congress, the ruling party of West Bengal which has been mounting attack on the government over black money.
Naidu took the jibe during a discussion on black money in the Lok Sabha when Trinamool member Sudip Bandopadhyay got agitated over the minister’s assertion that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was favoured by 72 per cent of the country’s populace. He cited a survey to claim so.
“Zameen khisak rahi hai… that is why you are getting so worked up,” Naidu, a senior BJP leader, said on being upset by Bandopadhyay’s intervention. The Trinamool member countered by saying that his party will remain in power in West Bengal for next 20 years.
BJP, which emerged as the largest party in Maharashtra in the recent Assembly polls, is trying to wrest power from Trinamool in West Bengal where Assembly elections are due in 2016.
