Represented by Union Minister V Narayanasamy in the present Lok Sabha, the lone seat in Puducherry will go to voting on Thursday.
Puducherry, which is the only Union Territory apart from Delhi to have a legislature of its own, will see keen contest between AIADMK, DMK, PMK and the Congress.
Former MLA V Omalingam is the AIADMK candidate from the seat. Omalingam had lost to Congress’ PRN Thirumurugan in the 2011 Puducherry Assembly elections.
Sitting DMK MLA from the Karaikal South constituency AMH Nazim is the DMK candidate from the seat while RKR Anantharaman, a former MLA and is the PMK candidate.
There are 875 polling stations in the constituency where 8,85,925 voters will exercise their right to franchise.
