Exit polls 2014: Yes this is a Modi wave, but not the end of AAP

Today was the last day of polling for the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections. Now that voting has finally closed, the exit poll results are out and according to the CSDS-Lokniti CNN-IBN exit polls, its going to be a clear victory for BJP-led NDA which is expected to get the 272 majority quite easily. BJP on its own is expected to get 230-242 seats.

Congress is expected to fall drastically and could get between 72-82 seats and this will be one of the worst performances by the party in its history.

So what do the exit polls confirm? According to Firstpost Editor-in-chief R Jagannathan, there’s nothing surprising about the polls and they are confirming the pre-poll trends. He also says that one can no longer deny that there is definitely a Modi wave given that the party is expected to get one third of the vote share in the country.

Where AAP’s performance is concerned, he feels that even though the exit polls predict a white-wash for the party in Delhi and even in Haryana, it is too really early to write them off as the idea of AAP, which is transparency and corruption free politics, is still relevant.
